WITH EXTREME WEATHER HAPPENING ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, WE NEED TO STAY HEALTHY.
A GOOD WAY TO DO THAT IS TO LOOK AT BOOSTING OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM.
KEEP READING FOR SOME THINGS YOU MAY NOT HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT…
Of course, we all want to be able to get everything we need from food sources, however, the truth is our food supply is not great these days. Even organic food is lacking in nutritional value as compared to 75 years ago, pesticides, overfarming, picking before optimal ripeness, etc. all contribute to less vitamins and minerals in our fruits and veggies today. If you grow your own food, amazing! But not everyone can do that, not too mention, healthy eating is expensive and most don’t do it at all. That being said, we ALL can FOCUS on some foods that will help boost our immunity during these last winter months.
6 MORE EASY TIPS TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE HEALTH…
GET PLENTY OF SLEEP - In a study in 164 healthy adults, those who slept fewer than 6 hours each night were more likely to catch a cold than those who slept 6 hours or more each night (Source). Getting adequate rest may strengthen your natural immunity. Also, you may sleep more when sick to allow your immune system to better fight the illness (Source).
Adults should aim to get 7 or more hours of sleep each night, while teens need 8–10 hours and younger children and infants up to 14 hours.
MANAGE STRESS - Long-term stress promotes inflammation, as well as imbalances in immune cell function (Source). In particular, prolonged psychological stress can suppress the immune response in children.
Activities that may help you manage your stress include meditation, exercise, journaling, yoga, and other mindfulness practices.
STAY HYDRATED - Hydration doesn’t necessarily protect you from germs and viruses, but preventing dehydration is important to your overall health. Dehydration can cause headaches and hinder your physical performance, focus, mood, digestion, and heart and kidney function. These complications can increase your susceptibility to illness (Source).
To prevent dehydration, you should drink enough fluid daily to make your urine pale yellow. Water is recommended because it’s free of calories, additives, and sugar.
MOVE YOUR MASS - Although prolonged intense exercise can suppress your immune system, moderate exercise can give it a boost. Studies indicate that even a single session of moderate exercise can boost the effectiveness of vaccines in people with compromised immune systems (Source). What’s more, regular, moderate exercise may reduce inflammation and help your immune cells regenerate regularly (Source).
Examples of moderate exercise include brisk walking, steady bicycling, jogging, swimming, and light hiking. Most people should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.
LIMIT ADDED SUGARS - Emerging research suggests that added sugars and refined carbs may contribute disproportionately to overweight and obesity (Source), Obesity may likewise increase your risk of getting sick. According to an observational study in around 1,000 people, people with obesity who were administered the flu vaccine were twice as likely to still get the flu than individuals without obesity who received the vaccine (Source).
Curbing your sugar intake can decrease inflammation and aid weight loss, thus reducing your risk of chronic health conditions like type 2 diabetes and heart disease (Source, Source). You should strive to limit your sugar intake to less than 5% of your daily calories. This equals about 2 tablespoons (25 grams) of sugar for someone on a 2,000-calorie diet.
Now as I mentioned earlier, our food supply is lacking, so the last tip is to think about adding high quality, absorbable supplements into your diet to help boost your immune system. ABSORBABLE being key. Those tablets, pills and capsules your taking are NOT the definition of absorbable.
Look at this…
WHAT AM I LOOKING AT?
The vitamins that are demonstrated in this x-ray are tablets & capsules which as you can see are in the large intestine and beyond the point at which they can be absorbed. This means that they survived the very potent hydrochloric acid in your stomach that can eat the paint right off of your car and still can be seen on this x-ray as they lie in the colon. Clearly, these vitamins are not worth the money. You’re quite literally flushing money down the toilet. These likely contain binders, fillers and coatings that make them very difficult, if not impossible to absorb when they reach the villi within the small intestine. Most of them have not been absorbed and most are in the same shape as when they were swallowed.
As stated in the Physicians Desk Reference, supplements are absorbed at an alarming rate of only 20-25%. Absorbtion is also dependent on the overall health of your digestive system, your age , pharmaceuticals and other cofactors needed for optimal absorption. I think we can agree, ABSORPTION MATTERS!
There is a supplement line that has the delivery process that allows for 95% absorption verses what you see here on this x-ray. Upon discovering this isotonic delivery system, it’s clear that “not all supplements are created equal”. When an isotonic substance enters the body, it will be absorbed into the bloodstream rapidly. With isotonic fluids, little nutritive value is lost, making the absorption of nutrients highly efficient. There is nothing artificial about it. An isotonic fluid is nature’s own nutrient delivery system. Better delivery for better absorption.
